Questions for Kurdish separatists
Think about what the Kurds are saying. Ask your Kurdish friends the following
questions. First, what are the final borders of Greater Kurdistan? Who
decides, how is this decision made, and when will this decision be made?
The Kurdish minorities of the Middle East demand their own autonomous
states with the right of full self determination in Iraq, Turkey, and Syria.
Why does the Kurdish Regional Government deny the same rights to the ethnic
minorities in Iraqi Kurdistan?
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad now says that Iraq’s partition
by Kurds and Iranians would “blow up” the Middle East. Is Assad
wrong?Does Iran approve of Kurdish policies of partitioning Iraq, Turkey
and Syria?
According to Kurdish logic, is the USA -- like Turkey -- an illegitimate
state because of its suppression of the Indian tribes? Can Native Americans
be compared to the Kurds in Turkey? What about US suppression of Latino-Americans
and African-Americans? Is this like Turkish suppression of the Kurds?
During the 1930’s a faction of the US Communist party asserted
that US African-Americans constituted a separate nation in the so-called
rural black belt in the deep South. By a strong majority the US Communist
Party rejected this ultra-leftist and separatist view of African-Americans
as a separate nation in the US. Do the Kurds approve of African-American
political separatism in the US?
Do the Kurds approve of full self-determination from China for Taiwan
and Tibet? If not, provide a rationale as to why the Taiwanese and Tibetans
are any different from the Kurds.
Finally, ask your Kurdish friends to provide a list of illegitimate states
(China, Russia, France, Spain, and most of the Latin American states) and
a list of their replacements (Basques, Incas, Chechens, Kosovars, etc.).
