Pedro M. Burelli : Letter by Republican US Senators to
Sec. of State Clinton on Chávez links with terrorists

Attached the amply reported letter sent two days ago to Secretary of State Clinton. There are no new facts in this letter - all items have been well reported news items -  BUT there remains important unanswered issues related to the facts and questions highlighted in this firm letter. While there are no Democrats among the signatories of this letter, I have no doubt that the Obama administration knows the behind the scenes of these suspicious activities - and of many others which are not yet in the public domain.  - but has chosen a path of restraint in order not to slow, or be blamed for, Mr. Chávez's imminent and self propelled implosion. The danger of becoming a mere spectator in this saga is that you might have the facts right, but the timing wrong; the players might be well identified but their intentions not fully understood. Making the wrong assumptions or "not connecting the dots" in time can be both costly and unforgivable. While most Americans still dismiss Chávez as a nuke-less anti-American charlatan they would be a bit more concerned if the response to the attached letter is thorough and public. In the early years of Mr. Chávez misrule, the now infamous Maisto Doctrine was the dominant stance: "judge Chávez by his deeds and not his words"; as of late it is obvious that his words are a total bore and his deeds a dead serious matter of concern.
