Scott Sullivan : Stop Obama's war on big oil

Here is a piece of free advice from a US Marxist-Leninist to President Obama recommending  that call off his war on Big Oil before he brings tragedy for the Middle East and for his party in the 2010 elections.  At the moment Obama be tempted to take a safe option if siding with his left wing allies to attack Big Oil.  Wrong!  Obama can best gain publicity, demonstrate the will to fight, and co-opt his right wimg opponents  by supporting Big Oil.

Otherwise, Obama and the  drmocrats will lose the 2010 elections, as follows.

First, Obama will be disadvantaged by the traditionally low turnout of Democratic Party voters in off-year elections, Obama will also be disadvantaged by the traditionally high turnout of Republican Party and Tea Party voters in off year elections.

Second, Obama will be disadvantaged on 2010 elections by continuing setbacks in cleaning up BP's oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Further setbacks are inevitable due to the size and complexity of BP's reclamation problem. Obama also faces continuing and unreasoning BP hostility to the US.

Third, Obama will be disadvantaged in the 2010 elections as key parts of his domestic agenda are overturned by the aftershocks from the Gulf Crisis. For example, Obama still has comprehensive immigration reform at the top of his domestic agenda. However, an actual immigration crisis could emerge this year that would derail Obama's legislative reform on immigration as thousands of refugees flee the Caribbean states and Cuba to reach US shores, while the Caribbean tourist and energy industries decline in the wake of the Gulf Oil crisis.

Fourth, most of all, Obama will be disadvantaged in the 2010 elections by his hostility to Big Oil, a stance that will alienate large numbers of Democratic Party voters, especially in the South and Mid-Western states.

Obama has declared war on Big Oil with three highly controversial policies. Obama has announced a six month moratorium -- likely to become permanent -- on US deep water drilling for oil. Such a moratorium would inflict great suffering on US oil companies and their communities, while boosting the operations of the US's foreign oil competitors. Also, Obama has declared war on Big Oil by warning that he wants Congress to pass fast track, comprehensive, anti-Big Oil energy legislation, a goal that will dominate Obama's energy agenda for the remainder of his term and that could sideline further congressional progress on economic stimulus, health care reform, and immigration reform.

Moreover, Obama' hostility to Big Oil is exemplified by promoting the fast track withdrawal of US military forces from Iraq and Afghanistan, without first negotiating agreement with Russia and China that would deter Iranian imperialism and protect Chinese properties in Iraq and Afghanistan from terrorist attacks ,

In this regard,  the US should place priority on a joint strategy with Afghanistan, China, and Russia to unify all the progressive leftist factions of Taliban aligned with Russia and India against the reactionary Taliban factions aligned with Pakstan and Iran.  In fact,  resolving the Taliban dispute will be the last problem in the Middle East.  Stability in Iraq will follow the emerging path to the US/Russia/China Axis.  The isolation of Iran will follow down the same path. as will the Middle East peace process.

In other words, in Obama's war on Big Oil, Obama would snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the Middle East and South Asia. Instead of consolidating a US progressive and anti-Racist Middle East front consisting of the US, the Arab World, Russia and China, Obama would consolidate the reactionary and racist front of Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey.

Let's be clear, behind all the global sloganeering from Obama is a policy of unilateral withdrawal of US forces and US oil companies from the Middle East. Obama wants to retreat from the Middle East in the same way that he  retreated from Latin America. Obama is free to name his new foreign policy as he pleases. I will join all of America's little people to stick the label of Obama's appeasement of Nazi Iran and Obama's betrayal of Big Oil on his new foreign policy. For the good of his party and his country, Obama must reverse course and support Big Oil in the Middle East.
