Scott Sullivan :
Loughner is an anti-war leftist

The vast majority of Democrats agree that Jarad Lee Loughner is a right wing extremist, another Timothy McVeigh.  Wrong!  A story in today's Washington Post about Loughner reveals that Loughner is an anti-war leftist and that his purpose in life is to stop the war in Afghanistan (a war which Rep. Giffords reluctantly supports). To quote Loughner on the effects of theAfghan war on US society, “We're examining the torture of students …. The war that we are in right now is currently illegal under the Constitution.  What makes it illegal is the currency.”

In other words, Louchner asserts that the Bush-Obama war in Afghanistan has become so unpopular that Obama cannot obtain sufficient funding from Congress.  Obama is therefore funding the Afghan war through “illegal means” by using the Federal Reserve as a source of funding by expanding the money supply, a step that creates inflation and wrecks the economy.

Meanwhile, US students worry about fighting in n illegal and deeply unpopular war in Afghanisan.  Also, US students worry they are being robbed of their future prosperity as Obama debases the US currency.

Moreover, the students are aware Bush-Obama war on Afghanistan is a bad idea for many national security reasons.  For example, VP Biden during his recent visit asked Pakistan to impose a settlement , while ignoring Afghan desires  as well as the desires of their neighbors to keep Afghan borders intact.  Pakistan, of course, will do just the  opposite  as part of its imposed settlement by annexing 25-30 percent of Afghanistan's territory, a move that will infuriate Afghanistan's two closest allies – Russia and India – and could precipitate war between Pakistan and India.

Furthermore, US military deployments to Pakistan are foolhardy because such deployments could lead to US confrontations with Chinese troops in Afghanistan and Pakistan, in the absence of a coherent US policy on China.  VP Biden just spent five days in the region and did not utter a single word on the status of Sino-US relations in Pakistan, even though – with US blessings – Pakistan is speeding towards war with India over Pakistan's aggression in Afghanistan.

Allow me to present this issue in simple terms.   If a Sino-US alliance on Pakistan/Afghanistan exists, why is Obama not informing Congress about Sino-US military cooperation in the region such as intelligence sharing, joint border defense, and joint actions in the war against terrorism.

On the other hand, if China and the US are not on `the same page in Afghanistan and Pakistan  -- despite repeated US protestations that “everything is fine” with Sino-US relations  – then Obama  should accept Loughner's advice by setting fire to Richard Holbrooke's AFPAK playbook and withdrawing all US forces from Afghanistan and Pakistan immediately.

Washington Post:  “Tucson college releases home video of Loughner's ramblings.
