Petroleumworld
has, as its main objective, to inform and transmit opinions
on the World and Latin American countries of petroleum and energy issues, which could affect
world markets, as well as on those world events, which influence
our national energy sector. Petroleumworld also pays attention
to the international political, economic, and social events, which could
have a bearing on the world of energy and our civilization. There is a close connection
between those types of events, as illustrated by the situation
in Iraq. Our information is and will be factual. Editorials
and commentaries, on the other hand, can include subjective
ingredients from the Editor or from whoever are the authors
of such contributions. We recognize that opinion should be plural
and, as far as possible, based on public knowledge. Our editorials
represent our position on issues of general interest and are
of our sole responsibility. We cordially invite our readers
to contribute their own views, which will readily published
and which will be of the responsibility of the author. In such
a manner Petroleumworld is a forum in which all issues of interest
can be freely discussed.
Energy and Petroleum
activities are intimately related to politics. Today this is
truer than ever, as shown by the increasing role of the Ministries
of Energy and Mines in the operations and commercial sectors
of the petroleum industry. As an example, the recent political and organizational
decisions taken on Venezuela`s Oil Company or PDVSA strongly
influence their overall performance and the place of the company
in the international petroleum community. Our mission includes
the analysis of the consequences, which those decisions will
have for our country and for the world petroleum industry. We,
at Petroleumworld, feel free to express our opinions and ask
our readers to feel free to give us their comments.
