Stena will start drilling offshore Suriname early in 2021

Drilling contractor Stena has indicated to have a contract with Tullow Oil Suriname BV for drilling one well at sea in block 47.

The drilling contractor Stena forth drilling platform will be brought to Suriname at the end of December or beginning of January to start in January or February 2021, under a Tullow Oil contract, according to Stena.

Tullow Oil Suriname BV has a contract with Staatsolie Suriname Since 2010 for the drilling of a well in Block 47, culture.com reported.

Tullow oil had announced earlier this year that it would start drilling in the promising (Goliathberg-Voltzberg) northern part of block 47. Block 47 is located about 260 kilometers north of Suriname. is part of the Surinam-Guyana basin.

Steana annaouincement comes after oil company Apache made three discoveries off the coast of Suriname already this year – a “significant” find at the Maka Central-1 well in April, another at the Sapakara West-1, then followed by a find at the Kwaskwasi-1 well at the end of July.

All three were in Block 58 off Suriname reported Energy Voice.
