kidnappers closer to home
Atlantic LNG Chairman Gordon Deane escaped kidnappers
who took him from its Toco estate in Trinidad and Tobago on Sept. 8 by jumping
out of a speeding van, Trinidad and Tobago's Newsday reported. Three suspects
were arrested in connection with the kidnapping at a road block, and an investigation
is underway. Deane
dislocated a shoulder and sustained an injury to the back of
his neck after jumping from the van. After his escape, he made
his way to a local police station, from which an all-points bulletin
was sent out and a road block set up. Deane underwent minor surgery
at St. Clair Medical Centre and was later released.
