China's
cleverness
We
note that Venezuela has said that it shall sell 500,000 bpd of
crude to China in '08, up from 350,000 bpd presently. This
was announced by President Hugo Chavez himself yesterday. He
said further that Venezuela intends to increase shipments of
crude to China to 1 million bpd by '12. Chavez made these predictions
as he promoted the fact that representatives of China's Development
Bank were there in Venezuela to sign an agreement to create
a $6 billion investment fund to build factories for mobile
phones, autos and machinery, to establish telecommunications
networks and to build railroads. He needs China far more than
China needs him, it seems.
