The Institute of the Americas a leading think tank out of La Jolla, California. run by Ambassador Jeffrey Davidow is stepping up its energy programs. On December 10, 2007, a Dominican Republic one-day energy investment Roundtable. The main topics for discussion will be electricity, refining, offshore E&P, and financing energy investments in the Dominican Republic. And on January 30, 2008, a Mexico Oil and Gas Roundtable. This executive Roundtable will focus on hydrocarbon development in Mexico and plans and policies within PEMEX, the Federal Government and legislative efforts in Congress. Key themes will include: fiscal reform, hydrocarbon development policies, onshore vs. offshore, the Gulf of Mexico and issues such as geologic, geographical and technical challenges including the donut hole, unitization, the Efecto Popote.
