Ecopetrol on the ropes

Despite Colombia's stock index falling the worst in five weeks as investors reacted to an unexpected Hugo Chavez's freeze on Colombia - Venezuela relations, after its president, Alvaro Uribe, told him to stay out of talks with guerrillas over hostages and the surprise Colombia's central bank bench mark interest rate hike to a six-year high to 9.5 percent on Friday, Ecopetrol is to debut trading on Colombia's stock index on Tuesday.
