The
fact
Disconcertingly,
before leaving for the Hajj to Mecca earlier today, Iran's President,
Mr. Ahmadinejad, said Sunday that Iran's nuclear issue has come
to
a political end and that Iran has no intention whatsoever of halting
its nuclear enrichment program. In a live televised broadcast,
President Ahmadinejad said the nuclear issue was "the toughest
battle and challenge" of his government over the past couple
of years; that it was a great event and victory, and that it was
more valuable than the nationalisation of the nation's oil industry.
Further, he said that the success Iran has enjoyed on this front
has promoted Iran's status materially on the international stage.
Sadly, he's probably right.
