Stop la Clinton !
The Washington DC insiders are staging a coup against Barack Obama. The insider's power is concentrated at State, Defense, CIA, and Treasury. Two separate factions are at work. The Treasury faction is led by Bush- Baker Republicans with ties to the Wall Street banks. Bush's goal to block Obama's takeover of Treasury and the economic agencies.
The centerpiece of Bush's plan is to use the legislative authority from the Wall Street bailout to create tax benefits for the Wall Street banks ($140 billion of tax breaks as of this week). Baker also wants to hand out Treasury's consulting contracts to his Republican allies on Wall Street. As a result, Treasury has no White House oversight.
At Defense, CIA and State the insiders are neo-cons and right wing Trotskyites (i.e., the Commentary crowd) who have bedded down in the career service.
The neo-cons prevail in their anti-Russia and pro-Iran stance in interagency debates because they are the only political faction in government, and they have support from Bush, Cheney, McCain and Clinton.
Richard Holbrooke leads the Democratic Party neo-cons, while Richard Perle leads the Republican Party's neo-cons.
Holbrook and Perle used one primary issue to cement their partnership and to take over the Executive Branch. Holbrooke and Perle agreed to stage a “humanitarian military intervention” in Serbia. This US/NATO action against Serbia was intended to open the door to future US/NATO military intervention against Iraq – like Serbia, an ally of Russia – and even against Russia itself. At the same time, Holbrooke and Perle wanted to open the door to US cooperation with Iran.
The neo-cons are fighting to preserve their power by pressuring Obama to retain Robert Gates as SECDEF and name Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. If Bush and the neo-cons prevail, Obama will be out of business.
So, who would be a good Secretary of State? Governor Bill Richardson, who can work with the Arabs against Iran.
