Quoting Mao

Huckabee and Limbaugh quote Mao

Mao Tse Tung is as American as apple pie.  To illustrate, below you will find examples of Mike Hickabee and Rush Limbaugh drawing upon Mao for inspiratio

Huckabee quote used in television interview on the night of his victory in the Iowa caucaus --

"My presidential campaign this year in Iowa has started a prarire fire."

Source for quote is Mao's famous essay calling for a national uprising to oppose Japan's invasion of China -- "A songle spark can start a prarire fire."

Rush Limbaugh quote used last month in a television interview -- " A revolution is not a dinner party."

Limbaugh is drawing upon the most famous Mao quotation, as found in Mao's Red Book.  I prefer Mao;s version because it captures the central role of class struggle in history.

'A revolution is not a dinner party.  It is an act of violence in which one class destroys another."
