Chevron's Amazons saga
A lot of words have been printed on the Chevron's situation in Ecuador's Amazon oil sites with the environmental disaster made by Texaco Petroleum and its Ecuador partner the national oil company PetroEcuador back in the late 1980. Chevron has maintain that Texaco Petroleum turned over operation of the Ecuador oil operations to
Petroecuador in 1990 and complete ownership of the assets to Petroecuador in
1992. Petroecuador has had a woeful track record of spills and has not completed
environmental remediation of sites. This is Petroecuador's responsibility not
Chevron's. If look at this moment at Petroecuador sites, we will find exactly the same situation they always had at their sites, they still are an environmental disaster. So why is that the activist groups,NGOs and specifically the Amazon Defense Coalition are not looking at this situation ? Why is only at the Texaco's 1980s sites? Are they really are working in the Amazons defense or just wan to to get a pile of money out of Chevron ? This questions are in the floor...
