Conservative Straw poll
ON THE POLITICAL FRONT, much is being made of the Straw poll taken at this weekend’s Conservative Political Action Conference held in Washington D.C. where Rep. Ron Paul was the goingaway favourite, getting the votes of 31% of those attending. 2nd behind Dr. Paul… he is a physician, by the way… was former Massachusetts Governor, Mitt Romney, with 22% of the votes cast. Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was a rather distant third, and the other “Governors” on the sample ballot including Governor Pawlenty and Governor Barbour ran even farther behind. Let’s be quite clear here: Rep. Paul has zero chance of being a viable candidate for the Presidency, and that is the harsh reality. His supporters will take us to task for that assessment, but it is true nonetheless and any movement to have him run as a Republican or as a third party will serve only to weaken the rapidly growing conservative movement
in the US. Further, Gov. Palin will not be the Republican Party’s candidate against President Obama three years hence. It will be either Gov. Romney, Governor Pawlenty, Governor Barbour or Governor Daniel of Indiana… any of whom shall make a fine candidate. If we had to pick at the moment our money would be on Gov. Daniel, but then again our money was on our friend, Governor Mark Sanford, and his candidacy obviously went
