SOD Wolfowitz ?
White House insiders are saying that President Obama is favorably impressed with Paul Wolfowitz's spirited defense of operation Odyssey Dawn, and has added Wolfowitz to his short list of candidates to replace Robert Gates as SecDef. Wolfowitz was SecDef Rumsfeld's senior deputy for policy during the second US-Iraq war and is today considered to be a leader amongst US foreign policy Neoconservatives.
What most impresses Obama is Wolfowitz's advocacy of regime change in Libya, a goal that is contrary to the views of most Obama military advisors and most congressional democrats.
Obama was also favorably impressed by Wolfowitz's performance as US Ambassador to Indonesia and his support for the pro-democracy groups in the face of military repression.
