Venezuela's
tax agency SENIAT, has send a tax bill to Total and Statoil for
roughly US$880,000 (euro660,000) in back taxes. The agency said
Sincor -- a heavy crude upgrading project in Venezuela's Orinoco
River Faja region -- owes unpaid taxes from 2002 and 2003. Sources
told Petroleumworld the government is pressuring the companies
to agree in selling the majority stake of the project to Venezuela's
oil company PDVSA.
