Subject: Hugo Chavez

In reference to David Riff´s article about Chavez. Is he arguing that a Pax
Americana is "benign?" He mentions that Hugo Chavez is extremely popular in
Venezuela, which is undoubtedly true. I am currently living in Caracas in a
family home-stay program and I can attest to that. However, why does the
article fail to mention why Chavez is popular? Just this morning I got free
medication from the Cuban doctor in the neighborhood for my gastritis. I wish
I could have free health care in the United States. If that were the case, I
would likely appreciate my President as well. Daniel Brockert, University of
Arizona graduate currently resident in the Carretera Vieja Caracas-La Guaira
