The Ukrainian parliament's vote to sack the government "is
not constitutional," Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko
said Tuesday as he arrived in the Kazakh capital.
"Time will show that this decision is not constitutional,"
Yushchenko said as he disembarked from his plane.
The Ukrainian president said he would comment further on the parliament's
vote on Wednesday after speaking with his legal experts, adding
he would not cut short a visit to the Kazakh capital for the inauguration
of President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
A spokeswoman for Yushchenko said he would not dissolve the parliament.
"He considers the decision illegitimate and will filed a
complaint with the constitutional court," Larisa Mudrak said.
A deal reached between Russia and Ukraine over gas supplies last
week has proved controversial in Ukraine amid a fraught political
climate ahead of parliamentary elections in March that observers
say will be a key test for Yushchenko's leadership.
