Gazprom's capitalisation now exceeds 200 billion dollars: Medvedev

The market capitalisation of Gazprom, the world's largest gas company, is now above 200 billion dollars and its share price has risen 20 percent since the start of the year, Russian deputy prime minister Dmitri Medvedev said on Thursday.

"On the markets, Gazprom's share price has increased almost 20 percent according to the RTS index (Moscow's benchmark stock market) and its overall capitalisation exceeds 200 billion dollars," Russian news agencies quoted Medvedev as saying.

Medvedev, who is chairman of Gazprom's board, said the boom was linked a decree signed in late December 2005 that, for the first time, allows investors who are not resident in Russia to acquire Gazprom shares.
