Argentina's
takes first-ever opening E&P bids

Argentina
has taken a first step into the oil and gas exploration arena,
opening initial bids for San Juan province from Spanish-Argentine
energy company Repsol-YPF and Argentine independent Oil M&S
for blocks in the Jachal, Mogna, Niquivil and Caucete regions,
the provincial government reported Tuesday.
The
San Juan Provincial government will open economic offers for the
high-risk blocs in March, and officials aim to sign contracts
in early June, according to the provincial goverment.
The
province expects to offer for bids another seven areas before
the year ends.
However,
BP - Pan American Energy, Petrobras, Total and Argentina's Tecpetrol.,
were pre qualified but did not make any offers.
