Gas vice president Félix Rodríguez said
on the sidelines of the 17th International Gas Convention in Caracas
on Thursday, PDVSA could allow another company to buy into block 1 of
its Plataforma Deltana natural gas project.

at present is working Block 1 alone but PDVSA want to change things.
"In
block 1 it would be us participating with a percentage plus maybe the
help of a minority partner to complements us," Rodríguez
said. Offshore experience would "of course" be a plus,Rodríguez
added.
Allowing
a third party to help in e & P block 1 is one way of get assurance
that the work is going to be successfully.
All the four Deltana blocks that were given for E & P work in 2003,
has yet declared commerciality. Chevron, who has two blocks, has said
it has located 7 trillion cubic feet of proven reserves, but is waiting
for the unitizasion of the field by Veneuela and Trinidad. Norway's
Statoil, on block 4, interrupted its program there last year do to a
rig's safety issue andwill resume work in July.
Venezuela is currently producing some 6.3-6.5 billion cubic feet of
gas a day (Bf3/d) but in maily for reijection in the the oil wells,
needs 1-1.4 Bf3/d for energy generation.
