Singapore's Keppel FELS Ltd. has secured an order worth 182 million
US dollars to build an oil rig for India's Great Eastern Shipping, the
company said Thursday.
It would deliver the rig, which can operate in depths of up to 350 feet
(105 metres), by the fourth quarter of 2009, Keppel FELS said in a statement.
This is the fourth such order from an Indian client in six months for
Keppels FELS, a unit of Keppel Corp.
The company made its entry into India in March with a 171 million dollar
contract to build an oil rig for Discovery Hydrocarbons Pvt Ltd., a
member of India's Jindal Group of companies.
Keppel Corp, through its subsidiaries including Keppel FELS, is the
world's biggest maker of oil rigs.
Its operations are supported by a global network of 17 yards in the
Asia Pacific region, Gulf of Mexico, Brazil, the Caspian Sea, Middle
East and North Sea.
