Petrobras, through its Espírito Santo Exploration and Production Business Unit (UN-ES), attained a new production record and surpassed the 100,000 barrels of oil a day mark for the first time in its history. Production topped-out at 104,375 barrels on June 20.

The increased production, which had been leveled at 75,000 barrels of oil a day, resulted from the third producing well interconnected to the FPSO Capixaba platform vessel going online in the Golfinho Field. Eighty five percent of this outflow is light oil, which has higher commercial value for Petrobras and for the Country due to its positive effect on the Trade Balance.

The Company expects to connect three other producer wells to the FPSO Capixaba during the year, allowing its total capacity (100,000 barrels a day) to be reached by late 2006. Additionally, when platform P-34 goes online in the Jubarte Field, in the southern coast of the State, slated for the second half of the year, added to the onshore field production and to the capacity of the Cação and Peroá offshore fields, Espírito Santo will reach the 180,000 barrel a day mark before the end of the year.
