The
Norwegian Oil Industry Association (OLF) said Friday an economic impact
would be fell with the strike reducing output and delay new production
from several fields, with some 30 operations already affected, although
oil and gas production was currently only minimally affected.
OLF spokesman Leif Harald Halvorsen said negotiations were deadlocked
with the Norwegian Oil and Petrochemical Workers Union (NOPEF). The
OLF's chief negotiator told Dow Jones Newswires Thursday he expected
the conflict to last weeks, if not months.
Earlier
this week, NOPEF spokesman Arild Thiemann said, "We are prepared
to strike as long as it takes to get a solution we want." Dow Jones
reported.
Norway's
Statoil and Norsk Hydro said they expect drilling at some of their largest
fields would be affected, including Snøhvit, Ekofisk, Oseberg,
Statfjord, Snorre, Gullfaks, and Visund. Statoil's Kristin gas field,
ready to get online was already affected by the strike.
Also
the strike will afect drilling programs scheduled for 2006 and 2007,
of big operators like ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Chevron and Royal
Dutch Shell.
Also,
the strike is expected to affect oil services companies like Baker Hughes,
Schlumberger , Oceaneering International , Halliburton , Weatherford
International and Aker Kvaerner, as well as Geoservices, MI Norge, Acergy
and other oil service companies.
Besides
Statoil, Hydro and ConocoPhillips (COP), the strike could also hit major
oil operators such as ExxonMobil (XOM), Chevron (CVX) and Royal Dutch
Shell (RDSA), all of which have drilling programs scheduled for 2006
and 2007.
