PDVSA evaluating Petrobras proposal on Venezuela's Mariscal Sucre offshore natural gas area

PDVSA is analyzing a Petrobras' proposal to jointly develop the Mariscal Sucre offshore natural gas area, said Jorge Luis Sanchez, the president of the country's natural gas regulator, Enegas on Friday.

"We were analyzing their proposal last week," said Jorge Luis Sanchez, the president of the Enegas natural gas regulator, on Friday.

Sanchez said at a press conference, that PDVSA, has offered Petrobras a 30% stake in the field.

According to PDVSA officials it will begin construction of the project in August with or without Petrobras.

Sanchez explained that while PDVSA might partner with a Petrobras in the E & P activities at Mariscal Sucre, and PDVSA could partner with anothe conpany to build natural gas processing facilities.

"For downstream there could be another partner," Sanchez said.

The Mariscal Sucre project is set to produce 600 million cubic feet a day by 2008, with production rising to 1.2 billion cubic feet by 2011.
