The Venezuelan government rejected expropriations Wednesday, decided
on by the capital´s Metropolitan Mayoralty, alleging they could
affect Constitutional norms and national laws.
A
declaration signed by the Vice President Jose Vicente Rangel recalls
that authorities respect and demand respect for the ruling regulations
and reject any attempt to subvert the rule of law.
Property
rights are to be guaranteed without ambiguities, without ruling out
matters related to public utility or general interest, so that state
action is absolutely subordinated to the rule of law, the message stressed.
The declaration
considered Metropolitan Caracas District Majors´ Office responsible
for the expropriation decrees, involving the golf playing fields of
the Country Club and Valle Arriba.
