Jose Fernando de Freitas, head of the Bolivian unit of Brazil's Petrobras,
said is moderately optimistic about its company position in Bolivia
after Bolivia's president Evo Morales replace radical Jorge Alvarado
as president of Bolivia's oil company YPFB with Juan Carlos Ortiz Banzer,
a former Petrobras Bolivia manager, the Valor newspaper said Thursday.
Despite
his optimism de Freitas said he is worried about how little time there
is left to negociated with Bolivia on the nationalization of Petrobras
asses iin Bolivia.
"If we are really going to start a period of negotiations
for a deal that would be good for both parts, we only have a very short
time period; the deadline is Oct. 28," Freitas is quoted as saying.
Morales
nationalization of its oil and gas industry that Morales decreed on
May 1, demanded that all production at the well head will be handed
over to YPFB, just as refineries and distribution.
