Ecuador's oil company Petroecuador crude output, has decline 11% to around 179,600 b/d from some 200,000 barrels a day, in recent weeks, due to a series of local resident protests, vandalism against oil production infrastructure and administrative problems, according to a Dow Jones news story.

Resident pressure in the Amazonian provinces of Orellana and Sucumbios, where they are demanding funds for public works, and to the clean up of oil spills plus more local jobs for them are the main issue the company has to deal with if if they want to stop the downward production trend.

Sucumbios' residents have seized two production stations, forcing the closure of eight wells in the Libertador oil field, which normally produces some 52,000 b/d. In Orellana, meanwhile, locals have blocked roads, impeding Petroecuador teams and equipment access to fields.

Locals in the two provinces warn that they will "progressively" escalate their actions until their demands are met.

Attacks on pipelines last week are also preventing from a production rise.
