El Palito refinery closes down following power outage

All units in 130,000 bpd El Palito refinery, in north-central Carabobo state, were shut down following a power outage, market operators told Reuters on Tuesday.

The plant operated by Venezuelan state-run oil giant Pdvsa, has faced a number of operational problems this year.

"It is fully out of service," said a US operator, who added that he had no information on how long operations would be halted.

Another operator clarified that the power outage occurred early on Tuesday.

A spokesman for Pdvsa said he had no information about operations at El Palito refinery.
