Norwegian oil group Statoil reports slight fall in net profit

Norwegian oil group Statoil reported Monday a slight fall in net profit in the third quarter to 8.59 billion kroner (1.03 billion euros, 1.3 billion dollars) compared with 8.68 billion kroner in the same period last year.

The group, the biggest oil company in Norway, said that pre-tax profit had increased by 14 percent to 27.87 billion kroner however.

Sales increased by 3.0 percent to 106.25 billion kroner from 102.80 billion in the same period last year.
