Brazil's Petrobras plans to add new domestic crude output capacity
totaling 480,000 b/d over the course of 2007, CEO Jose Gabrielli said
in a
presentation to business leaders Tuesday.
Petrobras will put four new offshore platforms online next year to boost
its Brazilian oil production capacity to as much as 1.97 million b/d,
according to Gabrielli's luncheon presentation at Rio de Janeiro's IBEF
business seminar.
That would represent a 5.3% increase from Petrobras' goal of 1.88 million
b/d of production in 2006, taking into account output declines from
maturing
fields in Brazil.
Gabrielli said Petrobras plans to install the Piranema platform offshore
Sergipe in the northeast of Brazil in January 2007, with capacity of
20,000
b/d of light crude. In May, Petrobras plans to begin production at the
Cidade
de Vitoria platform offshore Espirito Santo, with 100,000 b/d of light
crude
capacity.
In September 2007, Petrobras will begin production activities at the
180,000 b/d Roncador P-54 platform in the heavy crude Campos Basin.
And by
December next year the company plans to install another 180,000 b/d
platform
at the Roncador field, the P-52 platform, Gabrielli said.
Gabrielli said Petrobras plans to add more than 1 million b/d of new
crude output capacity in Brazil between 2008-2011. Even given decline
from
maturing fields, the new projects should give Petrobras at least 100,000
b/d
more Brazilian output per year through 2015, according to company estimates.
