Bolivia's president Evo Morales said at the weekend that his government was looking at the best way to nationalise Entel.

"There is a profound debate going on among the state's lawyers about how to take back control of Entel, which used to be a state company," Mr Morales said.

"We're looking at it. We are obliged to take back those companies that were formerly run by the state." he added.

Entel, which has invested about $700m (€542m, £357m) in Bolivia in the past decade, has some 80 per cent of the country's long-distance calls market and nearly 70 per cent of the mobile telephone market.
