Venezuelan oil company PDVSA's western division new Division manager José Luis Parada said averaged production of 940,000b/d in 2006, up 10,000b/d from the previous year.

Parada, added he aims to increase production another 70,000-80,000b/d over 2007.

13 oil the E&P joint ventures in thw Western division, are producing 240,000b/d of the 940,000b/d.

The plan is to have 66 rigs drilling in 2007 an increment of 17 new rigs over 2006.

PDVSA has made adeal with China company to first supply the rigs from China and later to form a joint venture company to make the rigs in venezuela.

Parada said, he estimate Venezuela will be building its own rigs in five years, eighty western division employees are traveling to China to receive training, he added.

The western division now handles 12,000 wells, both in production and inactive.

The 13 oil E&P joint ventures in Zulia state, where PDVSA holds a minimum 60% stake, are producing 240,000b/d of the 940,000b/d.

PDVSA's Easter division is first in production and producing more than 1Mb/d.
