Venezuela hopes Peru will join gas organization

Venezuela hopes that Peru will decide to join a new organization of South
American natural gas exporters, Energy Minister Rafael Ramirez told reporters
Sunday upon his arrival at a regional energy summit.

Venezuela, Argentina and Bolivia have already joined the organization,
known by its Spanish acronym as Oppegasur.

The two-day South American Energy Summit on Margarita Island, hosted by
Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez, is being attended by the leaders of South
America's 12 nations to further their plans for regional energy integration.
