Chavez Denounces Campaign Against Venezuela in Europe

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Friday that a “perverse and vicious” campaign to discredit his country is underway in Europe, reported the French news agency EFE.“Europe has unleashed a persistent and perverse aggression against Venezuela, behind which is US imperial power,” said Chavez during the inauguration of the socialist state run Petrochemical Corporation of Venezuela (Petrocasa). Petrocasa comes under the framework of a national development and housing plan being implemented by the Venezuelan government as a response to a lack of housing.
“Washington is pressuring European governments and institutions to attack Venezuela, or at least, to distance itself from our country,” said Chavez.
The Venezuelan president added that the campaign in Europe to discredit Venezuela has reached “unprecedented levels” in the last few years. “Venezuela is the daily target of negative attacks in newspapers, television, educational institutions and lectures.”
Petrocasa, which comes under Venezuelan Petrochemical (Pequiven), seeks to revolutionize the building sector by developing houses from oil byproducts, such as PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), reported ABN news agency.
