President of state-run
oil firm Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), Rafael Ramirez,
publicly denounced an international campaign against his
firm, saying it is a reaction to nationalization of the
country's main industry.
In
a public gathering outside PDVSA headquarters on Wednesday,
Ramirez explained that there is a campaign orchestrated
by the continent's right-wing to curb the advance of
the revolution and of friendly governments and peoples.
He
particularly accused local Globovision TV station of "mounting
a slanderous allegation," referring to attempts to
link PDVSA with the case of a suitcase with nearly $800,000
seized recently from a Venezuelan businessman in Argentina.
Ramirez said the TV channel is taking part in a campaign
against PDVSA and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
Don't let yourselves be misguided; what this is all about
is control of the oil industry, which is now in the hands
of the workers to benefit the entire people, stressed Ramirez,
who called on workers to focus on the objective to build
socialism, counting on PDVSA as the country's most economically
influential business.
