Ecuadorian and Venezuelan technicians plan to define next week in Quito the cost for rental of two drills intended to increase oil output in Ecuador, reported Sunday the Ecuadorian media, according to Efe.

Ecuadorian Minister of Mines and Petroleum Galo Chirboga told daily newspaper El Comercio that daily rental of such drills edges USD 250,000.

"We expect the cost to be much lower with Venezuela and will discuss it next week. A taskforce will be organized along with (state-run oil holding Petróleos de Venezuela) Pdvsa technical experts," said the Ecuadorian official.

Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa talked publicly about the rental of the two drills last Thursday, during the execution of energy agreements with his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chávez, who paid a visit to Ecuador for about 22 hours, as part of a South American tour.
