The handing over of the
Mexican Oil Pipeline (PEMEX) network to a foreign private
enterprise is closer today and depending on when that right
will be granted this year.
An
international public tender, launched last May, established
a genreral contract to last up to a decade with renewal
options and possibly at a total of one billion dollars.
The winner of the bid will operate, maintain and manage
hydrocarbon conductors through four states first developing
the strategic network between Tabasco, Chiapas and Veracruz.
According to La Jornada newspaper, the victorious company
could sub contract entire non-central services that will
enable them to replace PEMEX's specialized staff.
Academicians, legal consultants and ex workers of this
sector members of the National Energy Committee considered
the project illegal, unconstitutional and directed to privatize
the so-called PEMEX's veins.
On March 18, 1938 President Lazaro Cardenas at that time,
declared expropriation of the industry after a conflict
between foreign enterprises owners of Mexican Oil and the
workers at that time.
