Singapore's Keppel Corp. said Wednesday a consortium
led by its offshore and marine unit had won a contract worth 1.2 billion dollars
to build an oil production rig for Petrobras Netherlands BV.
Keppel Offshore and Marine will hold a 75 percent stake in the project, while
partner Technip Brasil Engenharia, Instalacoes e Apoio Maritimo SA will own 25
percent, Keppel said in a statement.
The project will involve the construction of a semi-submersible floating production
unit to be delivered in the last quarter of 2010.
Technip Brasil Engenharia is a wholly owned subsidiary of Paris-based Technip
Offshore International. Petrobras Netherlands is wholly owned by Brazilian state
oil company Petrobras SA.
Keppel Corp. is the world's biggest oil rig manufacturer.
