HOUSTON
Petroleumworld.com, Mar 25, 2009

Hercules Offshore has received notice from Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) that it intends to terminate its contract for jackup Hercules 206 on April 10, 73 days earlier than expected. The rig is drilling offshore Mexico in the Bay of Campeche.

Hercules Offshore platform Platform 3, also in the Bay of Campeche, will finish its contract with PEMEX on May 5.  Jackup Hercules 185 is set to work for PEMEX until late October.

In the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, Hercules Offshore has ready stacked three jackups; Hercules 201, Hercules 203 and Hercules 257. Hercules 203 will begin a 21-day special survey in July then resume its contract with Energy XXI for 55 days, starting in September 2009.  Hercules 257 was originally scheduled to drill for Tana in the U.S. Gulf, beginning in September,  but this will instead be fulfilled by Hercules 253.
