Venezuela goes deeper on global corruption index: report
CARACAS
Petroleumworld.com, Nov 18, 2009
Venezuela has slipped on the corruption perception index to 16nd position from 158nd recorded last year out of 180 countries surveyed, global corruption watchdog Transparency International (TI) said in its 2009 perception index report released last month.
"Venezuela scored 1.9 points out of a total of 10 points. Venezuela also took the 162nd position out of the 180 countries surveyed," , quoting the report.
It looks that the Venezuelan government has not demonstrated any political will to fight corruption and is only aggravating the issue after analyzing the report.
The government has not commented on the TI report.
Transparency International’s (TI) 2009 Global Corruption Barometer (the Barometer) presents the main findings of a public opinion survey that explores the general public’s views of corruption, as well as experiences of bribery around the world.
