Brazil's fuel sales in August hit the highest volume for any month this year, said oil regulator ANP on Monday, in a sign that Latin America's largest economy is gradually recovering from a severe recession.
According to ANP data released on Monday, Brazil's fuel sales hit 76.15 million barrels in August, a 2.16 rise from the same period a year ago and higher than the figure recorded in March, which had been the biggest so far this year at 74.51 million barrels.
In the year through August, fuel sales totaled 562.67 million barrels, a 0.4 percent annual drop.
Data from ANP also showed Brazil oil exports reached 32 million barrels in August, 14.4 percent above the same month in 2016. In the first eight months of the year, Brazil's oil exports rose 43.1 percent to 270.49 million barrels.
