Enel Energy sells majority stake in Mexican renewable plants, continue as operator

Italy's Enel said on Monday it will sell an 80 percent stake in eight special purpose vehicles that own plants - both existing and under construction - in Mexico.
* The Italian energy company signed the agreement for the stake sale with Canada's Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec (CDPQ) and the investment vehicle of Mexico's pension funds CKD Infraestructura Mexico.
* The overall value of the deal is $1.35 billion, the group said.
* Enel will continue to operate the plants under engineering, procurement and construction contracts and long-term asset management agreements.
* Enel signed the deal through its renewable energy subsidiary Enel Green Power.
