Brazil's regulator Aneel clears Prumo to build thermoelectric plant

Brazil's Prumo Logistica SA won approval from electricity regulator Aneel to transfer rights to build and operate a thermoelectric plant to the Açu port in northern Rio de Janeiro state, the company said in a filing on Wednesday.

Prumo, which operates ports, said in June it had purchased the rights to build and operate the Novo Tempo 1.2 GW thermal plant from Bolognesi Energia SA.

Bolognesi, which won the contract to build the plant in 2014 but was not able to secure financing to build it, estimated construction would cost around 3 billion reais ($946 million).
