As Blockchain Technology continues to grow, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has established a cross-disciplinary research and application session which is set to take place during July 8 - 13 in Brazil.
Scheduled to join members of the program committee will be Shiva Bissessar, a Trinidadian who has contributed to the Caribbean perspective in the field of blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT).
The aim and scope of the session is described as providing, “A forum for researchers in this area to carefully analyze current systems or propose new ones, in order to create a scientific background for a solid development of new blockchain technology systems.”
The two main objectives of the session will be to establish Theoretical and Empirical Studies and Engineering Applications, as well as Initial Token Offering / Initial Coin Offering Solutions.
It is expected that papers accepted for the Blockchain Session will be published in the IEEE Proceedings of 2018 International Joint Conference of Nueral Networks, and will be available after July 2018.
Bissessar's work in this area commenced in 2013 as he examined Bitcoin transactions flows, followed by socio-economic research into the opportunities and risks involved with the advent of digital currency in the Caribbean.
Bissessar, who also serves as a founding director of the Caribbean Blockchain Association, holds an M. Sc. Information Security from the University College, London.
