Argentina fuel prices to rise from Friday due to last year tax reform

By Reuters

Petroleumworld 06 01 2018

Fuel prices will rise in Argentina starting on Friday as a result of a tax reform that was passed last year, tax agency AFIP said.

President Mauricio Macri's government announced earlier this month it had reached a deal with oil companies to freeze gas prices through June as it tries to control inflation. But the freeze applies to prices before taxes.

With the tax starting on Friday, prices for consumers will rise on average 1.3 percent, so a liter of gasoline will rise some 40 cents to 28 pesos ($1.12) in the capital of Buenos Aires.
