While it is true that Ram and McRae have been servicing the subcontractors of ExxonMobil, it has been doing so without the help of ExxonMobil.
The accounting firm made this clarification via a statement to the media yesterday. This was in response to a report released by the Department of Public Information (DPI) on Tuesday. That missive said that Ram and McRae are among the 228 local companies and individuals that ExxonMobil has done business with for the first quarter of 2018.
In the list that was released, Ram and McRae was listed twice.
The company partners said that based on its records, including the entire of 2018 to date, Ram and McRae has not provided services to ExxonMobil and its affiliates. The managing partners, Chris Ram and Rakesh Latchana called on DPI and ExxonMobil to correct the mistake.
When contacted about the matter yesterday, ExxonMobil's head of Public Relations, Kimberly Brasington maintained that Ram and McRae are beneficiaries of the Exxon Mobil supply chain.
Brasington said, “He actually must not know that he is doing business with our industry. He is on our list more than once. But where the misconception is on his part is that it is just not a list of companies that do business with ExxonMobil but also with our contractors.”
The ExxonMobil official said that the USA oil giant has 23 contractors. These include: TechnipFMC, Schlumberger, Ramps Logistics, Tanks-A-Lot and the Centre for Local Development.
Brasington said, “All of our main contractors that we directly contract with, we store their local content numbers too. So we go to our main contractors and they have to report to us, the companies used. One of our contractors submitted his name, so he (Ram and McRae) is in fact supporting the industry and part of our supply chain.”
