Brazil steelmaker Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais SA will take up to two years to recover a gasometer unit that exploded at its Ipatinga plant in August, injuring 34 people, its chief executive Sergio Leite said on Monday.
Leite told reporters the plant was operating at normal production capacity following the blast but has increased gas purchases from distributor Gasmig, generating extra costs.
The company will not pass on the higher costs to customers, he said.
