On the invitation of His Excellency Ambassador Fernando Nogales of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain, a team of officials from Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (‘the Authority’), met with the Ambassador on September 7th 2021, to hold formal discussions on the prospect of increasing connectivity from Trinidad and Tobago, into Europe, through the Kingdom of Spain.

Representing the Authority at the meeting were General Manager, Mr. Hayden Newton, Deputy General Manager - Estates Planning and Business Development, Mr. Emmanuel Baah, Coordinator Operations and Aviation Training, Mr. Oswald Bruce and Marketing Manager, Ms. Joanna Fridy. The Ambassador was also accompanied by the Embassy’s Assistant for Cultural and Commercial Affairs, Mr. Leslie Clarke.

The discussions focused on the potential for the development of flights between Spain and Trinidad and Tobago and the possibility for business opportunities on the Piarco International Airport estate for the aeronautical, hotel and travel sectors.

General Manager of the Authority, Mr Hayden Newton, stated that “the Authority is very excited by His Excellency’s visit and welcomes every opportunity to explore increasing connectivity to Europe and other markets”. The Authority continues to work fervently with key stakeholders to attract new air services and develop new routes for the benefit of the nation of Trinidad and Tobago.
